Uniforms

A Karategi (karate uniform; jacket and pants) is only required for grading and then for regular training after that. Ask your instructor about uniforms available through the club or other sources. Our gi is all white, no colours. Second hand uniforms are fine, just check with your instructor on style.

The other part of your uniform is a belt (obi). Until you have graded, you must wear a white belt. Check the grading section for details on colours above white. The belt is tied in a “square knot”. Follow the steps below:

If you have an organizational badge, this is placed on the left-hand side of your karategi, chest height. If you do not have one, need a replacement or have more than one karategi that needs a badge, ask your instructor. They will be more than happy to provide you with as many as you need. There may be a small charge for each.
